ZER01 in collaboration with xClinic and posted an open call for proposals to create environmental health projects and lifestyle experiments that make use of Pachube. The selected proposal, Beat Your Mouse Movement by Kitchen Budapest, will be featured as part of the Out of the Garage, Into the World program at the 2010 01SJ Biennial.

Out of the Garage

Between 4-10 September, ZER01 is inviting independent artists, designers, architects, engineers, programmers, and corporate and academic research programs to publicly work in San Jose’s 80,000 square foot South Hall to create projects for exhibition, performance, provocation, and interaction.
More about Garage Time:

Build Your Own World

01SJ is about how powerful ideas and innovative individuals from around the world can make a difference and come together to build a unique and distributed city-wide platform for creative solutions and public engagement.

Under the theme “Build Your Own World,” ZER01, in collaboration with dozens of partners, will present over the course of 4 days, from September 16-19, hundreds of artworks, performances, events, and artist talks, which not only imagine the future of the world) but begin to build it. More about the Biennial:

Beat Your Mouse Movement in South Hall

Our presence during Out of the Garage and Biennial will be made up of various activities and plays a crucial role in the project development. Our aim is not only present our idea to a wilder audience but also encourage people to join in and experiment with us. We hope that through this confrontation and intense development phase BYMM team will find various ways of implementation and the project's future will take shape.

  • BYMM_installation

BYMM will be presented through an installation, which will track the real-time desktop activity and the physical distance covered by four of us. Each of us will be represented by a hanging pair of a mouse and a shoe, which will be linked to the related data-stream. The balance and imbalance of the suspended objects will visualize our activity for the whole time of GT and Biennial.

  • BYMM_work-in progress and info point

This will serve as a documentation and information surface. It is a three dimensional modular object (“pixels” = simple forms, which can be put together to create a structure), which will be growing in the course of the project, as it is being organically built during the Garage Time. It will host photos, prints, stickers, drawings, even a monitor, loudspeakers, headphones, etc., documenting the project development and garage time work.
